This is wrong. Usb install has been supoorted in prior versions, not the version they are coming from so i can see where my logic is wrong. But i feel at the heart of this question is that there is no local cli for ESXi… yes you can force your way into a local CLI but its nothing like ESX. Again I see the flaw in my own logic but i just have a hard time with this answer.

  2. KW says:

I believe the correct answer is still B and D because

    1. ESXi 5.0 DOES provide host-based firewall, this is new in version 5

    2. ESXi 5.0 DOES provide cli (command line) via ESXi shell.

because the question is asking which two ways, so option A and C can be ignored, then the rest answer is B & D.

    watch out for:

An existing vSphere 4 environment will be upgraded to vSphere 5.x. The current implementation utilizes ESXi 4.1 and the new implementation will use ESXi 5.x.
In which two ways will the new ESXi 5.x implementation differ from the ESXi 4.1 implementation? (Choose two.).

    A. VMware ESXi 5.x provides a host-based firewall.
    B. VMware ESXi 5.x can boot from additional local sources such as a USB drive.
    C. VMware ESXi 5.x can be managed from a web browser.
    D. VMware ESXi 5.x can support virtual machines with larger hard drive configurations.

ANS : A & C, since other options were also avialable with ESXi 4.1

  4. Mark says:

When my company bought ESXi 4 blades, they came with a fully supported, pre-installed USB stick, with a special USB port on the motherboard to place it. As such, B HAS to be wrong, USB was already supported by VMware on vSphere 4.

I do believe the host-based firewall is a new feature in vSphere 5. So it most definitely provides it. A is therefor also wrong (except in the above post by Rony, where it is stated in the affirmative).

    That leaves C & D.
The local commandline options have been expanded significantly to make up for the loss of the Service Console.
And I believe the maximum RDM size in physical mode is also much larger.
