      Install the Client Plug-in
You must install the client plug-in before you can manage VMware Data Recovery.
      Prerequisites
Before you can install the Data Recovery plug-in, you must have vCenter Server running in your environment,
and you must install the vSphere Client, which you can download from any vCenter Server. The Data Recovery
plug-in connects to the backup appliance using port 22024. If there is a firewall between the client and the
backup appliance, port 22024 must be open before Data Recovery can be managed with the vSphere Client.
      Procedure
      1 Run the plug-in installer VMwareDataRecoveryPlugin.msi.
2 Follow the prompts of the installation wizard.
3 Start the vSphere Client, and log in to a vCenter Server.
4 Select Plugins > Manage Plugins and make sure that the Data Recovery plug-in is enabled.
You can now use the client plug-in to manage Data Recovery. If the Data Recovery is not registered in the
      vSphere Client, restart the client.

  1. Brian says:

    A – incorrect
B – It is not “Required” that you add a hard disk or storage device before VMware Data Recovery can be used.
C – Step one of the installation guide says to install the plug-in. This is required.
D – Step two of the installation guide says to install the appliance. This is required.

Many similarly worded questions have answer B, and if choices C & D were not available then B could also be considered as a correct answer. It’s a tricky question.

  2. vcp510 says:

B – You can store backups on any virtual disk supported by ESX. You can use technologies such as storage area
networks (SANs) and network attached storage (NAS) devices. Data Recovery also supports Common Internet
File System (CIFS) based storage such as SAMBA.

not C – You can now use the client plug-in to manage Data Recovery. If the Data Recovery is not registered in the vSphere Client, restart the client.
