  1. Bill Gates says:

    Answer is A and D not B and D
    see p48 vsphere-esxi-vcenter-server-501-resource-management-guide.pdf

If the virtual machine has custom shares assigned, the share value is maintained.

    B and D are correct.

“If the virtual machine has custom shares assigned, the share value is maintained.”

Share value is maintained but share% will be re-calculated based on the new total.

    The official statement said

    – If the virtual machine’s shares are high, medium, or low, %Shares adjusts to reflect the total number of shares in use in the new resource pool.

    ■ If the virtual machine has custom shares assigned, the share value is maintained

I agreed that the %share values will always adjusted. The actual shares for the added VM will change with High, Medium, Low, but do not changed with custom level. Tricky Question!

    poorly worded question

    “B and D are correct.
The correct answer should be B & D not A & D. According to the explanation, if a virtual machine has custom shares assigned, the “share value” is maintained, not the “% share value”.
The “%share value” will always change as virtual machines are added/removed from a resource pool. If it has a custom share value, lets say “1500 shares”, when it is moved to another resource pool it will still have “1500″ shares but its “% of shares” of the total resource pool will vary depending on the relative number of shares it has in relation to other virtual machines in the resource pool.

  5. TestKing says:

    Answer is A and D.

Like Ed said, its a tricky question but the ‘key’ thing to note is that ‘CUSTOM’ is being overlooked by some of the above posters.

Page 48: If the virtual machine has custom shares assigned, the share value is maintained. In addition read the note section directly below it.

Answer B is just rewording of what it states on page 48 (bullet # 2). It adds ‘CUSTOM’ to the statement which then in turn makes it incorrect.
