What should you create?

You have a server that runs Windows Server 2012.
The server contains the disks configured as shown in the following table.

You need to create a volume that can store up to 3 TB of user files. The solution must ensure that theuser files
are available if one of the disks in the volume fails.
What should you create?

PrepAway - Latest Free Exam Questions & Answers

A.
A RAID-5 volume on Disk 1, Disk 2, and Disk 3

B.
A storage pool on Disk 2 and Disk 3

C.
A mirrored volume on Disk 1 and Disk 4

D.
A mirrored volume on Disk 1 and Disk 3

Explanation:
The RAID volume would provide 8 TB of space and would be available if one of the disk fails.
However, you need at least three (but no more than 32) dynamic disks to create a RAID-5 volume.
Disk1 would have to be converted to a dynamic disk first.
Incorrect:
Not B: A storage pool would not ensure data redundancy. Not C: This mirror would provide only 2 TB of
storage. Not D: This mirror would provide 4 TB of storage. However, disk1 would have to converted to a
dynamic disk first.

I’m pretty sure the test is right and the answer is A, You can change disk 1 to GPT and make that happen. Also I have another bank of answers for this question and option B wasn’t in the choices, B would work also if you select the mirror option. But if I compare both tests it looks like Microsoft is looking for answer A

None of these answers are correct with the information given. It can be B if mirroring is selected (but that is not mentioned) and it can be A if disk 1 is converted to GPT first (but that is not mentioned). C is obviously incorrect with the size not matching up. But D could also be correct with a conversion to GPT.

    Interesting.

Based on the question here, the only correct approach is to create the storage pool using Disk 2 and Disk 3. Then you will be able to create the disk using mirror option which will create the virtual hard disk on one disk and mirror it on the other.
The most important think is to look at the most logical answer that is correct. We all will think RAID5, 3 disks automatically. But the disks used here are not compatible for the purpose of this exercise.

What I do not know for sure is the following. Will configuring RAID5 on Disks 1,2,3 automatically convert Disk 1 to GPT format? If that’s the case, then A is the answer. If not then it’s B. Can someone test this and provide a definite answer?
I need to agree with you all, these questions are not complicated but they are confusing due the fact that the author is not clearly giving us everything on their mind, making us do all these guessing

To create a Microsoft Software RAID, all the Disks have to be converted to Dynamic first. Therefore A is not correct.

W2012R2 has introduced Storage Pools which offer Simple, Mirror, Parity volumes.

B seems to be the correct answer.

  3. tvegeta says:

I’m thinking B. The storage pool can get created with mirroring. It’s the only answer that doesn’t require you convert Disk 1 to GPT. I’ve seen this same question where there are different possible answers (you can select more than one answer on the below version of this same question):

A: a storage pool on Disk 2 and Disk 3
B: a spanned volume on Disk 2 and Disk 3
C: a mirrored volume on Disk 1 and Disk 3
D: a mirrored volume on Disk 2 and Disk 3
    E: a RAID-5 volume on Disk 1, Disk 2, and Disk 3
F: a storage pool on Disk 1 and Disk 3
G: a spanned volume on Disk 0 and Disk 4
H: a mirrored volume on Disk 1 and Disk 4

Based on this question and the multi-answer version, if the answer was a RAID-5 volume then there would have been an answer in my above answers saying “a storage pool on Disk 1, Disk 2, and Disk 3.

The answer is B. And in the version I added, the answers are A & D.

  4. Ebrahim Ali says:

A: Wrong. RAID-5 cannot be created because Disk 1 is MBR. MBR is limited to 2 TB.
B: Correct answer. After choosing storage pool on Disk 2 and 3, create mirror.
C, D: Wrong. Disk 1 is MBR. MBR is limited to 2 TB.

True, but to create a Storage Pool needs for there to be no volumes on the disk. Dynamic, Basic or otherwise must be removed first.

In the given question I would still consider B the correct answer given MS wants to push the new technology. In tvegeta’s expended question I would have picked D because you can create the mirror without further preparation steps, but I wonder if A might have been the one MS are looking for.

You don’t need to target any specific wording either, as contextual marketing application functions with present articles and matches the wording on a blog, to the target phrases that advertisers are bidding on. Anything that you are passionate about will produce content ideas easier to generate since you are considerably less likely to lose interest. To be a Great blogger you may need to realize that what you produce is generally a reflection of your individual experiences.
