Which two actions should you perform?

Your network contains an Active Directory domain named contoso.com. The domain contains two
domain controllers named DC1 and DC2 that run Windows Server 2012 R2.
DC1 and DC2 fail to replicate Active Directory information.
You confirm that DC1 and DC2 have network connectivity.
The NTDS Settings of DC2 are configured as shown in the NTDS Settings exhibit. (Click tie Exhibit
button.)

DNS is configured as shown in the DNS exhibit. (Click the Exhibit button.)

You need to ensure that DC1 and DC2 can replicate immediately.
Which two actions should you perform? (Each correct answer presents part of the solution. Choose
two.)

A.
From DC1, restart the Netlogon service.

B.
From DC2, run nltest.exe /sync.

C.
From DC1, run ipconfig /flushdns.

D.
From DC1, run repadmin /syncall.

E.
From DC2, run ipconfig /registerdns.

F.
From DC2, restart the Netlogon service.

Explanation:
The DC2 name/alias is not available in DNS.
First we register the DC2 name from DC with the ipconfig /registerdns.
(E) Then we synchronizes a specified domain controller DC1 (DC2 would also work) with all of its
replication partners with repadmin /syncall. (D)

correct answer is A and D

    D. repadmin forces AD replication – known fact

    B. nltest /sync – obsolete. You can use this parameter for Windows NT 4.0 BDCs (pre-2000 Windows) only, not for Active Directory replication.
    C. ipconfig /flushdns is not gonna help if u have incorrect CNAME records. It just deletes local DNS client cache.
    E. ipconfig /registerdns takes hostname and dns-suffix from TCP/IP properties of network adapter, it doesn’t know anything about Server GUID

  2. MountSwolemore says:

Correct. DC1 is in DNS already. You could reset netlogon on both, but that wouldn’t make them sync immediately like the question asks.

So, you have to assume all the other msdcs records for DC1 are correct, reset netlogon on DC2, and then force replication.

      Miltux and MountSwolemore have right.
F – because of lack of DC2 CNAME records in DNS. Except restarting NETLOGON, only restart of whole server can recreate them. Don not have to tell that ipconfig (E) does only re-registration NIC current config in A/AAAA recors.
D – because we are told to replicate immediately.

I’ve tested on my lab, and both restarting netlogon and registering dns work for recreating the DNS entry. I just have no clue which would be microsoft’s favorite flavor.

    1. Kevin says:

My assumption would be the flavor with the least amount of possible interruption to other services. Restarting netlogon has a higher possibility of causing issues than just registering the DNS, so I’m guessing that’s what they wanna hear.

    2. JeanMalot says:

I’ve tested in *my* lab and I can assure you that registering dns does not recreate the CNAME record needed for DC2.
You need to restart netlogon, as ipconfig /registerDNS will only update A/AAAA records.

Well, I’ve testes in lab and I think answer is
    F and C.
I manually deleted the DC2 CNAME entry in DNS and update data
-Next Step, Run repadmin /syncall DC1- fail, DC2-fail
    -Restarting Netlogon on DC2
    -repadmin /syncall DC1- fail, DC2-success
    -Restarting Netlogon on DC1
    -repadmin /syncall DC1- fail, DC2-success
    -ipconfig /registerdns on both DC
    -repadmin /syncall DC1- fail, DC2-success
    -From DC1, run ipconfig /flushdns.
    -repadmin /syncall DC1- success, DC2-success

Remember, Q ask You need to ensure that DC1 and DC2 can replicate immediately.
So, before your restart Netlogon on DC2 and flush DNS on DC1 you will not able replicate immediately
