It should be D. Even though is has a downtime A only move the STORAGE, not the VM, so the VM files are still gonna be in Cluster1.

Using cluster storage migration, you can select whether to move the entire VM or Individual-Multiple parts of it (Storage, VM configuration, Snapshots, Second Level Paging).

I was a doubter but after reading that blog you’ve made me a believer! According to the blog you can use storage manager to move VMs while they are running. So less downtime than quick migration and accomplishes the same thing. Thanks!

I’m not convinced by the blog post.
The question says: “You need to move VM1 to another Hyper-V host.”
I can’t move the sum-total of VM1 to another Hyper-V host via a storage migration. VM1’s execution would remain on the cluster of hosts 4 and 5.
We agree that hosts 2 and 6 are excluded because of processor incompatibility. This leaves hosts 1 and 3. While it does introduce the undesired downtime, it achieves the objective of moving VM1 to another hyper-v host, so my choice is D: To host 1 by quick migration.

It is most definitely D.
For those lacking in VM experience or knowledge: no-one in the field would consider it ok to move only the storage of a VM when asked “You need to move VM1 to another Hyper-V host.”.
Storage migration would leave the execution of this VM on Cluster 1. If the entire point of moving the VM were, for example, HW maintenance on Cluster 1, your VM would go down as soon as the Cluster did.
Storage migration might mean less downtime, but it does NOT perform the necessary task.

Luis if you perform storage migration you migrate VM’s storage, but VM1 continues to run on the origin host so how is that considered as migrated ???

The question is either incomplete or just wrong. It can’t be D due to local storage. It can’t be B or C due to processors. That leaves us with A, which is not correct to the specifics of the question but I’m guessing the question will be different if gotten in the exam.
