  1. yun says:

    Measurement是balloon,这表示vmtools在使用balloon气球工具回收内存,也就意味着ESX服务器的内存不足了,所以答案是D。
The measurement is balloon, that means vmtools is using balloon tool to recycle memory. That represented The ESX server which running the VM is low on memory.
    So,the answer is D.

  2. just saying says:

Two scenarios: One is esxi is low in memory and uses balloon to get the memory from the VMs. The other is that the VM has a memory limit and the limit is not enough for the VM. When the VM tries to get more memory than its limit, esxi will inflate balloon to stop the VM from accesing more memory. When that happens VMs will swap out pages which will slow performance considerably. Since there are no indicators for “swap” in the diagram option D would be the best answer.

  3. Michael095 says:

Typically, the hypervisor inflates the virtual machine balloon when it is under memory pressure. By inflating the balloon, a virtual machine consumes less physical memory on the host, but more physical memory inside the guest. As a result, the hypervisor offloads some of its memory overload to the guest operating system while slightly loading the virtual machine. That is, the hypervisor transfers the memory pressure from the host to the virtual machine.
