A catalog with persistent desktops cannot be updated with the “update machines” option.
A catalog with a Personal vDisk needs different handling. You need to use “Update Inventory” first before creating a snapshot of the updated master image.
Not sure if “update machines” is available for this kind of catalog. I would go for D

There is no correct answer in my opinion :
Only pooled machines or pooled with PvD can be updated via a central image using MCS.
