Explanation:
You can use a preconfigured alias or a multipoint control unit (MCU) interactive voice response (IVR) dial-in to
initiate a rendezvous video conference on Cisco Telepresence Video Communication Server (VCS).
Rendezvous conferences, which are also called static or permanent conferences, can be one-time conferences
or recurring conferences. Unlike ad-hoc conferences, rendezvous conferences must be configured; unlikescheduled conferences, rendezvous conferences do not need to be scheduled and resources are not
guaranteed. The conference organizer must provide the dial-in alias or MCU-IVR dial-in number to the
participants.
Meet-Me can be used to initiate a rendezvous video conference; however, it cannot be used with Cisco VCS.
Instead, Meet-Me can be used with Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CM). The conference organizer
must define the conference bridge as a media resource in Unified CM and must provide the Meet-Me number
to the participants. Unified CM can also use a preconfigured alias or an MCU-IVR dial-in.
You cannot use automatic connect or one button to push (OBTP) to initiate a rendezvous video conference on
Cisco VCS. However, these methods can be used to initiate a scheduled video conference on Cisco VCS or
Cisco Unified CM. Scheduled conferences guarantee endpoint and MCU resource availability. In addition,
calendaring applications can be used to schedule conferences. When the automatic connect launch method is
used, endpoints are automatically connected at the scheduled conference time. When OBTP is used,
conference dial-in information is displayed on endpoints that support the OBTP feature.
You cannot use Multiway to initiate a rendezvous video conference on Cisco VCS. Multiway is used for ad-hoc
conferences, which are unscheduled, on-demand conferences. An ad-hoc conference can be created simply by
adding a third participant to a point-to-point call. Multiway requires a Cisco VCS and an MCU.
