   The ipv6 unicast-routing command globally enables IPv6 and must be the first … By default, IPv6 traffic forwarding is disabled, so using this command enables it.

   To enable IPv6 unicast packet forwarding on Cisco routers, the global command ipv6 unicast-routing is entered.

   The ipv6 unicast-routing command only activates the IPv6 forwarding mechanism on the routers.
