I found the command “set edition 64-bit” but also the recommendation to have at least 6 GB RAM…

HDD space although necessary has no bearing on running 64 bit GAIA. B is the correct answer, you not only need to set it to 64 bit (as it defaults to 32 bit) but also ensure you have atleast 4GB RAM to run a 64 bit GAIA OS.
