I had already put a comment on this but not sure where it went.

        There’s two answers here.

        1)
Deploy an AD RMS cluster to “fabrikam.com”
Configure “fabrikam.com” as a “trusted user domain” for the domain “contoso.com”

        2)
Deploy an AD RMS cluster to “fabrikam.com”
Configure “contoso.com” as a “trusted publishing domain” for the domain “fabrikam.com

  1. David says:

    But it states:
    – Ensure that contoso.com domain users get use licenses for RMS-protected documents from the domain contoso.com.
    – Ensure that fabrikam.com domain users get use licenses for RMS-protected documents from the domain contoso.com.

Doesn’t that mean we need it in Contoso, since we’re all accessing Contoso?

Also, if we want to be nitpicky, it states “ensure…get licenses…FROM…contoso.com”
That means we’d need an RMS in Contoso, right?

Hey, what do I know, I’ve never actually seen RMS implemented in a production environment.

Keep in mind here that Contoso.com does have an AD RMS implementation but Fabrikam does not. This is why I’m not so sure the second answer I gave is acceptable.

      I’d use:
Deploy an AD RMS cluster to “fabrikam.com”
Configure “fabrikam.com” as a “trusted user domain” for the domain “contoso.com”

In order to configure the second option I mentioned, I believe Fabrikam would need an AD RMS implementation as well, which they do not.

Nevermind, I think I’m losing it! Seeing as the solution states that Fabrikam will have an AD RMS implementation, the second answer I provided should also be correct.
