I have seen the same recommendation but with unicast as step 3.
Thinking about it though surely using multicast would make more sense than using unicast in this scenario?

Yes it looks to be a scenario but there is little detail.
To be honest even though this dump was added here on 5th August it is out of date. There is a 229q dump knocking around. I won’t add the link as I am not sure if I am going to upset the Admins here by doing that but if you Google “Moio 70-414” you will find the more up to date dump

This is case Contoso Ltd Case E. NLB cluster needs to support IGMP. That’s multicast I believe.

i believe we should go with MULTICAST here. it does support both unicast and multicast, but with multicast, only members of the nlb cluster receive the packets

If the switch has support to multicast You can use it otherwise you have to use unicast

Anyone know exactly why “select Interface1” and “select Interface2” then select multicast? And why “Add APP1-SRV2.contoso.com to the cluster” at last? I’m completely confused.
