You have a server named Server1 that runs Windows Server 2012 R2. Server1 has the File Server
Resource Manager role service installed.
Each time a user receives an access-denied message after attempting to access a folder on Server1,
an email notification is sent to a distribution list named DL1.
You create a folder named Folder1 on Server1, and then you configure custom NTFS permissions for
Folder1.

You need to ensure that when a user receives an access-denied message while attempting to access
Folder1, an email notification is sent to a distribution list named DL2. The solution must not prevent
DL1 from receiving notifications about other access-denied messages.
What should you do?

Answer is _sort of_ correct. I just tested this in my lab.

You can create a new share in Server Manager, specify SMB Share – Advanced, and on the 6th page of the wizard (Management Properties), you can add the email address of the Folder Owner. HOWEVER by running this wizard, you cannot use the same share name (because it already exists), so you are forced to create a new share name. So if we strictly follow the answer in this question, we will be creating 2 share names for the same folder, but we will be satisfying the question by allowing the different distribution lists to receive the access denied emails.

The PROPER answer (if it was an option) would be to go into server manager, open the properties of the existing share, and add an extra email address as the Folder Owner. We do this (through Server Manager) by clicking Properties of the Folder1 share -> Management Properties, and using a semi-colon to add additional email addresses.

    Easy as that.

The question text is: “You create a folder named Folder1 on Server1”.
So the share does not exist until it is created by the wizard.
      A is possible.

    A is the answer.

B also will not work. B allows you to set a single address to be used. I believe this ends up being the default address used for access assistance in the case that nothing was set on the share itself.

C will not work. You can only put in 1 e-mail address. This tab is for global settings and is used for the admin e-mail, or a admin DL. You cannot point to a specific folder, or for a specific event, this is simply the “admin” address that other tabs default to for notifications.

D will not work. In the process of creating an SMB share with the application process, there is no options to configure anything for access assistance.

A has to be the answer. First, you cannot set up access assistance on a folder, it must be a share. Second, in the process of creating the share using the Advanced option, in the “management Properties” step of the process, you have the option to include the folder owner email addresses. You can enter 1 or more separated by semicolons. The note on this field specifically states that the folder owner email property specifies the distribution list or email addresses that are contacted when users request assistance after being denied access to the folder.

If “From the File Server Resource Manager console, set a folder management property.” was an option, then this would be the better option as you can configure this to a specific folder within a share.
