D is the correct answer. When you think about firewalls you have to view them as a door. If a computer wants to have a connection to a server on the other side of the door, the server has to allow INCOMING connections to it. The question speficies that that client computers must connect on port 6444 to access app1 which is located on the server. From the Firewall (door’s perspective) that is coming INTO it, not leaving from it. The question also states that the client computers must connect to app1 on Server1, NOT the intranet server Named Server2.

I understand how a firewall works and understand why D is an answer, but why not A as well? The question states that Server1 connects to Server2 via port 3080. You need to configure Server1 only, so incoming TCP 6444 and outgoing 3080 should be the combo?

    D is the right answer.
Two inbound rules needed for this. On the Server 2 inbound rule for port 3080 and on the server1 inbound rule for port 6444.

Questions asks “Which Windows Firewall rule should you create on Server1?”
Microsoft is playing with words and trying to confuse.
