Which type of virtual hard disk should you create on the LUN?

You have a server named Server1 that runs Windows Server 2012 R2.Server1 has the
Hyper-V server role installed.
An iSCSI SAN is available on the network.
Server1 hosts four virtual machines named VM1, VM2, VM3, and VM4.
You create a LUN on the SAN to host the virtual hard drive files for the virtual machines.
You need to create a 3-TB virtual hard disk for VM1 on the LUN. The solution must prevent
VM1 from being paused if the LUN runs out of disk space.
Which type of virtual hard disk should you create on the LUN?

    1. Kevin says:

Indeed, the only correct answer is B.
You have to create a fixed size so the VM should not be paused.
You have to choose a vhdx because the question implies that the system volume will be on this disk and because it is an ISCSI wich can only be used on vhdx’es as system volume.

This comment is not relating to this question, but this exam in general.
Just before the exam, i did a practice test with all 282 questions, I got 95% correct. I also got 95% with v3 of this exam.
Then I sat the exam and got 700, smack on the pass mark. That is like %70 correct
There were 12 questions I got asked that were NOT listed here. (And I must have got them all wrong too!)

They mainly related to (or mentioned)
    Setting UPN suffix
    RODC
    Azure

Personally, I would wait for another update to come out before trying this exam.

I put some new questions at the end of this Dump.
On my first try i got 668 points, on sechond shot 940. I read MS official server 2012R2 Book x 2 times (it only cover like 50% of questions) and used Katleen vce/pdf version.
I also work as administrator for 5 years, and in practice you dont use half of theese features.

Some Answers on questions are wrong so you must find answers by your self.
As Aaron said: “…these question dumps should be used to test your knowledge and help fill in knowledge gaps, you should not rely on these questions to pass the exam…”

I ended up doing this exam 3 times.
The first two times were early July, and this exam was the same as it is now.
So technically this dump was not valid on the day it up uploaded (late July)
It might be better to say its 70% valid, 30% new questions.

Also, im not sure if anyone else has noticed this before, but during the exam, when i click the “exhibit” button, it might like 5 seconds to load the image (loading line at a time). Infact the whole exam is slow to move between questions.

I have a feeling that some questions (if not all) are loaded on the fly from a central server. and that new questions are added or changed very frequently.

So this might mean this dump is going to be the closest dump you will get for long time.

Just giving my 2 cents, these question dumps should be used to test your knowledge and help fill in knowledge gaps, you should not rely on these questions to pass the exam, Microsoft want you to know how to use Windows Server 2012 R2, not know how to answer the questions…

@Aaron, that’s an overly simplified justification of these dumps. Those who seek knowledge don’t just abide by what “Microsoft” wants. Instead, they seek all sorts of ways to gain knowledge rather it be through test batteries that frame the knowledge in different use cases, books, videos, boot camps, or formal training.

The more considerate and contemplative use of these dumps is to consider them in different ways they can be used to gain knowledge but to also guard against critical mistakes which these questions are designed to also teach. I see these dumps like glorified flash cards. That’s what makes me smile and makes me happy when there is good forum discussion about the questions. But being dismissive of the dumps by saying they are merely to test knowledge sells it way short.

Kathrine dump almost valid, I took the exam 4 days ago, many questions are from it, but not all of them of course. if you depend only on it, no one will pass. you have to read the book, or have experience with win server 2012 al least

The trick to this question is to make sure you see they are saying if the LUN runs out of space. So the answer is correct. If you do fixed the VHDX gets all the space it needs from the LUN at creation. If you choose dynamic the VHDX takes the space as it needs so you can create a 3TB VHDX on a lun that only has lets say 2TB of space. This is called over provisioning. But when the VHDX tries to grow beyond the amount of free space on the LUN it will pause. VHDX because a VHD does not support over 2TB size.

Did the exam the 17th of October and I came across a lot of the questions in here. Most notably on group policy, azure, RODC, IPv6. Everyone won’t get the same questions but I can say the questions listed in here are valid. Hands-on training, reading the study material, TechNet and these questions got me through this exam.

  8. Bob says:

Some useful points there but back to the question at hand:

Agree that B is the answer – a VM with a dynamic disk will pause if the physical drive it is running on has run out of space and the dynamic disk tries to grow.

VHD is not the right answer because they have a 2TB limit and the question specifies 3TB
