Listen kids, the answer is D for Delegation Zone.

When working with DNS to resolve a child domain record in which a copy of the zone is located in the child domain DC, use a delegation zone.
When you need to forward a lookup for an external zone (in which none of the DCs in your forest is authoritative) use conditional forwarding.

Your answer has just contradicted what the question is asking: “You need to ensure that Server1 forwards all queries for ad.contoso.com to Server2.”

Delegating the zone means the records can be resolved on server1. This is NOT what the question is asking you to do.
