Both High Availability and Load Sharing cluster members communicate with each other using the Cluster Control Protocol (CCP).
CCP packets are distinguished from ordinary network traffic based on a unique Source MAC address in CCP packets.
If CCP packets are processed by the wrong cluster, it might cause traffic issues on the involved clusters (e.g., when a member notifies about a change in its state).
Starting in Gaia R77.30, the 5th byte of the Source MAC address in all types of CCP packets (CCP Delta Sync packets, CCP Health Check packets, forwarded packets) is derived from the value of Cluster Global ID.
For Gaia R75.40-R77.20 / SecurePlatform / IPSO:
Change the Source MAC address of CCP packets on all clusters connected to the same VLAN / network segment to ensure that their CCP packets can be uniquely distinguished.
Configure unique values of the following global kernel parameters on each cluster, which in turn will set the required value of 5th byte in Source MAC Address of CCP packets:
fwha_mac_magic (CCP traffic)
fwha_mac_forward_magic (Forwarding Layer traffic)
Very important: When working with multiple clusters, make sure to set different values on different cluster (values should be identical for all members of the same cluster). To avoid confusion, do not use the value 0x00 or 0xFF.
