Shouldn’t there be some sort of migration done? I mean, you’re going to have some GPO settings “looking” for test.contoso.com when you need to migrate those settings to just contoso.com. Just my opinion.

you would only need to use a migration table if the GPO had settings that were specific to the original domain. If the GPO only contains standard settings then you don’t need a migration table.
