HOTSPOT
Your network contains two Web servers named Server1 and Server2. Both servers run
Windows Server 2012 R2.
Server1 and 5erver2 are nodes in a Network Load Balancing (NLB) cluster. The NLB cluster
contains an application named App1 that is accessed by using the name appl.contoso.com.

The NLB cluster has the port rules configured as shown in the exhibit. (Click the Exhibit button.)

To answer, complete each statement according to the information presented in the exhibit.
Each correct selection is worth one point.

Well… If one single node fails in the cluster, while a client has made a connection through port 80 to that node, I would think that only the connection would fail/terminate and the client would just have to establish a new connection to the cluster and would then be directed to a node in the cluster that has not failed.

These port rules apply to every IP/node in the cluster, so if one node in the cluster fails (one IP address is not available) a connection is made to a IP address that has not failed.

So IMO this App1 application is still available, just through other nodes in the cluster.

I believe sirasksalot is correct. Single host mode will send all traffic for that port rule to the server with the highest priority value. If one server is down, the next highest priority server takes up the role of Single host for that rule

+1 to this answer. Read the “port rule description” in the exhibit. If one of the hosts were to fail, the host with the next smallest handling priority would be available to take connections.

    I think this is right…

port 80 (http) is in single mode, so uses the server with this lowest priority
although it is in single mode, it will still use another server if one is down.

I think this might be correct see this article: (exert below)

Specifying Single Host Filter Mode Settings
As with the cluster host priority setting for Network Load Balancing, which is discussed in “Specifying the Cluster Host Parameters” earlier in this chapter, you must specify the handling priority value for each cluster host that has the port rule.
Specify the handling priority for Single Host filter mode by completing the following steps:
Specify a value of 1 as the priority for the cluster host that will always handle the client traffic designated in the port rule criteria.

Increase the value assigned to the previous cluster host by 1, assign that value to the next cluster host, and repeat the process until you have specified the handling priority for all cluster hosts.
