Where will NovaLink run?

PrepAway - Latest Free Exam Questions & Answers

A.
On the HMC.

B.
As a job in each dual VIOS.

C.
In a separate Linux partition.

D.
As an appliance connected to the FSP.

Explanation:
NovaLink runs inside an Ubuntu Linux LPAR (we expect to support other Power Linux distributions in the
future). This is just a standard Power LPAR whose I/O is provided by the VIOS (therefore not requiring any
physical I/O) with a special permission bit to enable PowerVM Management authority.
Note: It is easy to convert an existing POWER8 system to leverage the NovaLink architecture. From the HMC,
simply create a new partition as you would any other LPAR, providing it with virtual network and storage through
the VIOS. Then enable the new co-management feature in the HMC, and enable PowerVM management
authority for the newly-created partition. Finally, boot to the NovaLink installer (network, USB, or Optical) and
finish the install.
