distributed across all member disks.

    Hi.
I do not understand why 14 data disks is the correct value.
In the existing rg, there are 14+2 disks (according to the picture). Adding 2 of the 20 new disks, the existing rg will have maximum of rg size (16+2=18) and new rg 16+2 will be created. The result is 2+16=18 data disks.
If anyone can explain my wrong approach I appreciate.

    Thanks
    Lumir

    Hey Lumir,

I agree with you. You have explained it correctly!

The disappointing thing is when you google for it, you will find this question on different websites where you even have to pay for it and they all mention the wrong answer.

D has to be the answer.

Of the 20 disks, 2 will go to max out the existing raid-dp. The rest will go to a new raid group and of those disks 16 will be used for data.

So that means 18 disks total for data.

Can someone confirm if 14 is the correct answer on the exam?

I have corrected this after being pointed out that there are 16 disks in the picture (14 data, 2 parity). So the correct answer is D (18). See additional explanation in previous link.

I think this is a trick question in that 2 disks are added to the existing 16 disk aggregate and a second 18 disk aggregate is created. How many disks of the 20 additional disks are used for data? I think it’s 18. 2 disks in the original aggregate and 16 disks in the second 18 disk aggregate.
