   So what makes the difference between normal RAM and Non-Volatile RAM? Because NVRAM is non-volatile, the memory is stored on your device whether the power is on or off. Basically, the startup configuration of your computer depends on NVRAM, because a lack of NVRAM means a lack of stored settings. So when you turn off your computer or printer or router and turn it back on, it’s NVRAM that brings your permanent settings back to life
