From the official training manual: “Exam Tip: Configuring the agent with vault credentials is a relatively new process. Previous versions of the wizard prompted you to browse for a self-signed certificate, which performed the same function (vault identification and authentication).”

  2. Prady says:

You need to install the ASR provider after creating the (ASR) vault. It is clear from the links that you have pasted here as well.
Look at Step 2 in the link. The very first line says, “Install the Azure Site Recovery Provider on VMM servers, and register servers in the vault.”
This is an On-prem to On-prem ASR implementation steps question.

The steps that I can summarize are:
    Create ASR Vault
    Install ASR Provider
    Configure Cloud Protection Settings
    Create Network & Storage Mappings
    Enable Protection for VMs
    Create Recovery Plans

Again, there seems to be a tricky line between #4 and #5 under Step 2. #4 says “4.*Download* the Azure Site Recovery Provider installation file”. #5 says “5.*Download* the registration key.”. #6 is “6.*Install* the Azure Site Recovery Provider”. So have we *generated* the vault key in #5? If yes, then Generate Key is the right answer. However, the first line under Step 2 says “Install the provider”.

    Grrrrr…. again.
