Globespan Travel is a travel agency based in USA.
Physical Locations
Globespan Travel is an expanding business. The company opened four more branch offices this
year and now have 35 branch offices spread throughout western USA and a main office in Los
Angeles. The main office has 70 users, each with a dedicated desktop computer. The branch
offices each have around 40 employees. Around half of the branch office employees work parttime hours either in the morning or afternoon. Only the full time employees have dedicated
desktop computers. The part time workers share computers.

Existing IT Environment
All desktop computers run Windows XP Professional. The desktops in the four new offices run
Microsoft Office 2007 Professional. All other desktops run Microsoft Office 2003 Professional.
Each office has a Linux based email server.
Existing Licensing Solution
All desktops had Windows XP Professional pre-installed at the time of purchase. All Microsoft
Office licenses are Retail Product/Full Package Product (FPP) licenses.
Problem Statements
The current email system is very basic and does not integrate with Microsoft Outlook. We need to
centralize the email system. We could utilize the current server hardware as File Servers.
We also need a centralized data collaboration and data storage solution.

Planned Changes
Globespan Travel has the following plans for the next year.
Open another five new offices.
Migrate all current desktops to Windows 7.
Upgrade all desktops to Microsoft Office 2010 Professional Plus.
Install a server in the main office that runs Microsoft SharePoint Server.
Install a single processor server in the main office that runs Microsoft SQL Server.
Install two servers in the main office that run Microsoft Exchange Server.
Remove Linux from the branch office servers and install Windows Server on them.
