SONAS also supports the ability to extend physical data movement to external storage outside of SONAS. There are two types of operations to external storage:
Hierarchical Storage Management (HSM): Migrate inactive files to external storage, while leaving a stub file on disk.
Backup / restore (B/R): Backup or restore copies of files, to and from SONAS and external storage
