    All TS1140 and TS1150 drives are encryption-capable.

This term means that they are functionally capable of running hardware encryption, but this capability is not currently activated. To complete hardware encryption, the tape drives must be encryption-enabled. In an IBM TS3500 Tape Library, TS1140 and TS1150 tape drives can be encryption-enabled through the IBM Tape Library Specialist Web interface.
