It seems Answer D is the correct answer, the ping would be successful from host to host.
The PING would work because the four switch ports are all configured as access ports and the ports on each switch are in the same VLAN. In this case, a trunk port is not required since the inter-switch connection consist of two access ports. The first ARP broadcast from the host will be forwarded to all ports in the VLAN which includes the inter switch port. The receiving inter-switch port will forward the broadcast to all ports in its VLAN which includes the port connecting to the far end host. The return traffic follows the same logic. The configured VLANs on each switch are local to the switch and have no affect on inter-switch traffic.
