it doesnt matter, the TFTP server and its default gateway still sit within the same subnet, even though the masks are different. so changing the subnet mask wouldnt make a difference. impossible to tell whats causing the problem. bad question.

        There are 2 configuration issues.
        1. The same network number (172.16.1.96/29) is assigned to the LAN facing router interface at NY & Atlanta.
        2. The TFTP server has the wrong subnet mask (should be 255.255.255.258).

The admin is consoled into the NY router, and attempting to connect to the Atlanta switch would result in them being routed to the NY LAN (not Atlanta).

You are incorrect on number 1. The subnets are in increments of 8 as the block size is 8. Therefore, 172.16.1.96/29 and 172.16.1.104 are two different subnets. Just want to clear that up for you so you are not confused.
