Your customer has been a long time Avamar Virtual Environment (AVE) customer. They have
older AVE installations along with newer installations. They notice that older configurations are not
receiving the same performance as the newer configurations.
The customer points out that both configurations have fairly high I/O requirements but use different
disk pools. They understand performance is affected by RAID levels and would like your
recommendation.
Based on best practice, which RAID level is recommended for virtual machines with high disk
usage?

RAID 5 or RAID 6
Para el caso de los servidores de Avamar Virtual Edition, en terminos de su configuración para optimar el rendimiento, se debe considerar asignación thick provisioning y eager zeroing, a nivel de RIAD la recomendación en asignar un nivel de protección de RAID 1 ó 10, Estos niveles de RAID proporcionan el mejor rendimiento de las máquinas virtuales con un alto uso de disco.
Según lo anterior, desde mi punto de vista la mejor respuesta es la alternativa B.
