  1. meac says:

    It is B- 802.11b
The key word in here: BACKWARD
    ** The letters after the standard indicate its progression: A, B, G, N, Q.
    ** So the order is: A–> B–> G–>Q– N
** So the one BEFORE G is B
** Q & N come AFTER G, so that would be “forward” compatible.
** A is too old and it is not compatible

802.11g supports bandwidth up to 54 Mbps, and it uses the 2.4 GHz frequency for greater range. 802.11g is backwards compatible with 802.11b, meaning that 802.11g access points will work with 802.11b wireless network adapters and vice versa.

A huge problem with 802.11a is that it’s not directly compatible with 802.11b or 802.11g networks. In other words, a user equipped with an 802.11b or 802.11g radio card will not be able to interface directly to an 802.11a access point.
