This scenario Sucks.
the Answer could VERY well be a “Faulty cable”;
Especially if it’s the cable that connects the “finance server” to the Switch.
In fact, if everything was Fine ‘this morning’,
but ‘Now’ there is a problem….
i would Assume a failed “Cable” before i would assume a failed “VLAN assignment”.
Do Switches mysteriously ‘unlearn’ VLAN assignments??
