    IRF allows every device in the group to use the same IP address at the same time that they share the routing responsibilities. This means that:

    • DHCP scopes list a single IP address for the default router.
    • The subnet only needs to allocate a single IP address for routing devices.
    • Routers that implement OSPF only establish adjacency with the IRF master. Routers that have static routes through the IRF virtual switch only require one route.
