The Outlook client and other applications can use EWS to access information such as Out of Office (OOF) settings, availability information of meeting invitees, mailtips, inbox rules, and message tracking. All such functionality that’s dependent on EWS functionality must be able to access EWS services via the advertised EWS URL. By default, external URLs aren’t set.
