      When demoting a DC, part of its own cleanup is ensuring it gives away any FSMO roles it has. You won’t be able to control which DC gets the roles, but they do no have to be manually transferred.

      dcpromo.exe does not need an answer file to depromo a DC, but it is what you use when you wish to use an answer file for an unintended depromotion.
