    while I agree with the approach to move the mailboxes to a new database the actual answers available do not give rise to the end result.
    To ensure after three steps the mailbox Data is on the new volume the only solution is to move the database.

    1. remove copies – because you cannot move when copies are in place.
    2. move the database – this command will dismount, move EDB and logs then remount in new location.
    3. create copies.

    at the end of these three steps the data is on the new drive. I guess the sticking point here is the multiple copies of the data are available at all times. this screams of moving mailboxes to the new DB, but that option is NOT available in the list of answers. so this is a best option from what’s available.
