The question is about an administrative computer and that’s not a Domain Controller.

If you place the policydefinitions in the Sysvol folder (that’s also called a Central Store), you make sure that all DC’s AND all clients use the same template files (and thus the same version of the template files).

In this case, it’s NOT a Domain Controller, so you cannot(!!!) place the templates in the sysvol folder because that one does not exist on a non-Domain Controller.

    The correct answer is:

    .admx
    c:\windows\PolicyDefinitions

    .adml
    c:\windows\PolicyDefinitions\en-us

That may be true, but as you can see from the screenshot, you’re editing a policy on DC1.contoso.com. Not a local policy on your workstation. So where would they need to be for DC1.contoso.com to find them? If your answer was the central store that is replicated through sysvol, you’re already a winner!

I agree with the others. The admx goes into the sysvol PolicyDefinitions, the adml into its underlying folder (sysvol PolicyDefinitions\en-US)
