XYZ Corp. purchased a DMX 950/TimeFinder/Clone/SMC solution late last year. It plans to add a Celerra gateway for NFS shares.
You learn that XYZ has decided to also purchase Replication Manager to make record level restores easier from its AIX/DB2-based accounting system.
They ask for your validation. How do you respond?

Suggest it would be more cost-effective to place DB2 databases on the NFS. This way the free SnapSure feature can be used for cloning and Replication Manager would no longer be necessary.

B.
You inform them that DB2 is not supported with Replication Manager. However, custom DB2 scripts can be triggered by Replication Manager’s Pre/Post script callout feature so the idea would indeed be fully supported.

C.
You see no technical issues with the plan but they should be sure their current AIX revision levels are supported with Replication Manager.

D.
You inform them that Replication Manager automates the creation and restoration of replicas, but the level of granularity is at the LUN/Device level. You caution that single record level restores cannot be handled by Replication Manager alone.
