One Comment on “What are the kernel parameters that control “Magic MACs”?

  1. wonhunglo says:

    B. fwha_mac_magic and fw_mac_forward_magic

Although shockingly a Check Point exam question is fraught with syntax failure, the ‘B’ answer is closest to the correct kernel parameter syntax. Hey, Linux is totally forgiving…right?

Configure unique values of the following global kernel parameters on each cluster, which in turn will set the required value of 5th byte in Source MAC Address of CCP packets:

    fwha_mac_magic (CCP traffic)
    fwha_mac_forward_magic (Forwarding Layer traffic)

Important Note: On cluster running Gaia R77.30 and above, users should not modify the values of these kernel parameters (neither with ‘fw ctl set int’ command, nor via $FWDIR/boot/modules/fwkern.conf file). New procedure must be used that will automatically set the value of 5th byte in Source MAC Address of CCP packets.
