Windows uses the built-in file-level restore functionality (FAT, NTFS, ReFS)
Linux, Solaris, BSD, Novell, Unix and MAC use Multi-OS file-level
For “Any File System” (As the question states), Veeam uses vPower to extend IFLR functionality, but some manual work is required. Consider that this type of file-level restore is not wizard driven so the Admin will have to do an Instant VM Recovery and then He may mount the VMDK to the original VM or any other (even windows with portlock explorer)
