    The question demands that: “multiple copies of the mailbox data are available at all times”.

    The given answer is incorrect.

    I think the correct answer should be:

    Create a new database
    Create replicated database copies
    Move the mailboxes

    I think with requirement :
    – R1 : ensure multiple copy available
    – R2 : Minimize downtime

    Remove all of the replicated databases copies. –> Data already on the disk (R1 ok)
    Move the database –> downtime (minimum Downtime not mean no Downtime)
    create replicated database copy –> R1 ok

      What is minimum downtime mean? In this scenario we have 500 mailbox. In theory, one mailbox occupate 1GB disk space so database will be occupated 500 GB. If your copy data accross two disk with 200MB/s speed you will need 40 min to copy this database. Is it this downtime mean minimum?

    Any sort of database path changes or movement involves downtime. I agree with

    1. Create new databases on new volume — No downtime
    2. Mount new databases — No Downtime
    3. Create replicated copies — No downtime

    Post these, Move the mailboxes which are online moves and only during the cutover, there is a slight downtime.
