Note: D is correct, but there are several “wrong” statements on the reasons why it is correct fluctuating on the internet. Some are stating that you should find out the IP of the Direct Access server and ping it. That is simply stupid. The answer says: Ping Server1. The reason why this is correct (and why nslookup is NOT sufficient) is that ping does not only provide an address resolution checkup, but also provides us with the information that this is properly done via Direct Access. Why? If you would simply use an nslookup you would only be able to find out if there is some way of resolving the address of Server1, but you need to find out if this is possible via Direct Access. One of the features of DA (in comparison with other VPN solutions) is that it is allowing clients to properly PING other clients from the connected network – thus being able to ping the server means that the client is resolving the address (and pinging) the server by using an established Direct Access connection.

Yes you are right bro, We can use the ping command only, why should we go to the DNS as the server is located on the internal network and the computer (client) is located on public network,we can easily test name resolution with ping command instead of using any other tool to check that.

Yes but why does that confirm direct access is being used? ‘netsh dnsclient show state’ (b) shows that directaccess is being used … sometimes these simple questions are the hardest to decide an answer on, am torn between ping and netsh..
