    One image of Win 2012 core and then just add the rest

    To use Windows PowerShell to convert from a Server Core installation to a Server with a GUI installation

    Determine the index number for a Server with a GUI image (for example, SERVERDATACENTER, not SERVERDATACENTERCORE) with Get-WindowsImage -ImagePath \install.wim.
    Run Install-WindowsFeature Server-Gui-Mgmt-Infra,Server-Gui-Shell –Restart –Source c:\mountdir\windows\winsxs
    Alternatively, if you want to use Windows Update as the source instead of a WIM file, use this Windows PowerShell cmdlet:
    Install-WindowsFeature Server-Gui-Mgmt-Infra,Server-Gui-Shell –Restart

    Personally, I and probably “Real World” would always go with 2 images – 1 x Core, 1 x Full… but as the Questions says “minimum” and nothing about Administrative Effort, and the fact that you can convert Core to GUI, then I’d go with the “Microsoft / Exam” answer… 1 > Answer A

    Convert Windows Server 2012 Core mode to Server with a GUI mode :
    Install-WindowsFeature Server-Gui-Mgmt-Infra,Server-Gui-Shell -Restart

      the above link says

      “Managing the WDS role using the Server Core installation option”
      ——————————————————————————–
      You cannot use Windows Deployment Services with the Server Core installation option.

      but you can deploy server core installation using WDS.
