    For L2VPN, I don’t think the CE interfaces towards PE have to be L3. This defeats the whole purpose of having L2VPN connectivity. So, I don’t think option D is a valid option

    When a PE router receives a packet from another PE router, it first determines whether it has the destination(CE router) of the VPLS packet in the appropriate routing table

    Within a VPLS configuration, a device running Junos OS can act as a PE router. Junos OS passes the VPLS traffic through the following ports and PIMs on the Juniper Networks device to CE routers in the VPLS network:

    • Built-in Ethernet ports on front panel
    • Gigabit Ethernet uPIMs
    • Gigabit Ethernet ePIMs
    • Fast Ethernet PIMs
    • Fast Ethernet ePIMs

    NOTE: Ports on uPIMs and ePIMs must be in routing mode (layer 3 mode) before you can configure the corresponding interfaces for VPLS.
