A customer plans to connect a new Windows 2012 host to a new VNX array. The customer’s
application requires LUNs that are aligned at 1024 blocks.
What should you advise?
A.
They will need to manually align the volumes.
B.
No action is needed. Partitions are aligned at 1024 blocks automatically.
C.
No action is needed for basic disks. Dynamic disks require alignment.
D.
No action is needed for dynamic disks. Basic disks require alignment.
For windows 2008 the answer is B. For 2012 also, I think
Windows 2008 automatically aligns partitions at the 1 MB boundary, so no user
intervention is required. For other Windows versions, alignment at the 1 MB boundary is
recommended – see Microsoft KB Article 929491.

Update:
A is correct. By mistake I read 1024 kb, not 1024 blocks.
Default alignment 2048 blocks (1Mb)
