    1. BP says:

      I believe both A, B are right:
When the switch receives the DHCP request, it adds the option-82 information in the packet. The option-82 information contains the switch MAC address (the remote ID suboption) and the port identifier, vlan-mod-port, from which the packet is received (the circuit ID suboption).

  1. sayehihan says:

Remote ID and Circuit ID is a generic specification for option 82, while cisco switch implementation though is based on specific values, here’s the excerpt from our spec:
    – Circuit ID Sub-option value is defined as combination of port’s VLAN
number, module number and port number:

    subopt len cidtype len
    +—–+—–+—–+—–+—–+—–+—–+—–+
    | 1 | 6 | 0 | 4 | VLAN | mod |port |
    +—–+—–+—–+—–+—–+—–+—–+—–+

    – Remote ID Sub-option value is defined as access switch’s Mac address:

    subopt len ridtype len
    +—–+—–+—–+—–+—–+—–+—–+—–+—–+—–+
    | 2 | 8 | 0 | 6 | Mac Address |
    +—–+—–+—–+—–+—–+—–+—–+—–+—–+—–+
Thus while A and B are both correct answers B is more generic and A and more specific, so the final answer is A
