From the student guide..
When protected restore is not explicitly selected for a clone, a normal restore occurs. The goal of a normal restore is to send the contents of the clone to the source LUN, while allowing updates to both, and to bring the clone and the source LUN to an identical data state. To do that, writes coming into the source LUN are mirrored over to the clone that is performing the reverse synchronization. Also, once the reverse synchronization completes, the clone is not fractured from the source LUN.
