Scenario 2 An EMC NetWorker customer wants to add their Microsoft Exchange 2007
servers to their backup environment. The databases are stored on SAN volumes. There are
three mailbox servers, each hosting 10 storage groups. Refer to Scenario 2. What is the
recommended method for restoring items from an individual mailbox?
How would this requirement be accomplished?
Refer to the Exhibit. A customer is currently using an EMC NetWorker server and NMM 2.3
to backup all their SQL servers. They have a business requirement to comply with SLA
standards, to expand the recovery capabilities, and be more flexible and faster in recovery.
How would this requirement be accomplished?

Scenario 1 You have a customer with a large IBM Lotus Domino environment. The
customer is in the process of migrating from a UNIX to a Microsoft Windows infrastructure.
As part of this process, they are going to perform a refresh of the hardware and software
that Domino is running on. In addition, they will migrate all client backups to a new EMC
NetWorker environment. The new backup environment consists of a NetWorker server and
two storage nodes running on Windows 2008. The Domino environment consists of a single
server running two instances of Domino. The total amount of data that needs to be backed
up is approximately 900 GB. The Domino server will have connections to both the SAN and
the LAN. They would like to perform hot backups of the databases using the NMDA but are
leaving specific design decisions to you. Additionally, the customer would like to send all
data to disk for onsite backups and clone the first full backup of the year to tape for
long-term offsite retention. The backup target infrastructure consists of a single Quantum
i2000 tape library with six LTO-4 tape drives in addition to two EMC Data Domain 890s.
One Data Domain will be located at their primary site. The second Data Domain is at the
disaster recovery (DR) site as a replication target for the first. One of the customer’s major
concerns is the backup speed of the Domino environment. They are interested in any best
practices they can implement to improve backup performance at the Domino level.
Furthermore, they are looking for guidance in using NMDA to backup the data and leverage
their backup infrastructure in the most efficient way. Refer to Scenario 1. To achieve optimal
backup performance, which recommendation would you make regarding the disk layout of
their Domino server?

Scenario 6 A customer recently implemented an EMC Avamar solution in their primary data
center. The environment consists of several Microsoft applications, including Microsoft
SharePoint, Exchange, and SQL. An EMC Data Domain system was also deployed behind
Avamar as the backup destination for these applications. There are also several file system
clients that have been configured to back up directly to the Avamar server. One Avamar
server and two Data Domain systems have been deployed to support this configuration. The
Avamar server is operating close to full capacity and there is no room for expansion since it
is already fully provisioned with the maximum number of nodes. The Data Domain systems
have plenty of capacity left; each system is currently at 35% of utilization. Refer to Scenario
6. The customer now wants to replicate all backup data to a secondary site for disaster
recovery reasons. At a minimum, how many systems need to be deployed at the secondary
site to satisfy this request?

You are designing a backup solution for a large VMware environment. You are planning to
use snapshot technology to backup the virtual machines but management has expressed
concerns over how long the snapshots will take to create. What is a way to reduce the time
it takes to create a snapshot?
Which type of restore meets this requirement?
A customer is using EMC Avamar as a backup solution for MS SQL servers with different
point-intime backups. Management requires a reliable way to restore the database to a
specific point in time. Which type of restore meets this requirement?
What is required to enable this configuration?
A large Oracle customer has been performing backups of their databases to NFS mounts
presented from their EMC Data Domain system. In addition, they have directory replication
configured to replicate data from the primary Data Domain to a system at their alternate
data center. They are now interested in testing DD Boost for Oracle RMAN to backup the
databases. What is required to enable this configuration?
What is the reason for making the change?
You need to edit/change the mcserver.xml file in the Avamar configuration procedure for
use as a deduplication node in EMC NetWorker. What is the reason for making the change?

A customer is using EMC Avamar as a backup solution for MS SQL servers with different
point-intime backups. The SLA prevents recovery back to the original database. What is the
recovery requirement when the SQL instance has the same name?
