   I think 4 is right. 8 or multiples are recommended, but for a Raid6 4 disks are enough. 2 for striping and 2 for parity.

   Raid 5 can be done with 3 disks…therefore Raid 6 can be done with 4 disks for double parity of the 2 primary disks
