A is correct, there is no chance you can login with domain account after trust fail no matter reset, you can only login with local admin which you will reset through 3rd party tool.

First of all, the answer IMHO would indeed be A.

That said, throughout my career I’ve had to unjoin/rejoin so many computers after they came back from vacation, so I always assumed the AD locked out the computer account.

So imagine my suprise when I spoke to our AD veterans today, and they told me pretty much what it states here:

    Mind… blown…

I believe A is correct as well.

I have unjoined and rejoined machines that throw the trust errors when it loses it against the domain.

You can reset the computer account not to lose the unique ID and the membership but if it has been sitting unused for 5 months, I doubt anything needs to be retained.

I think the “Microsoft way” is to use ADAC to preserve the information for security purposes etc although i do not use this method and would always go for unjoin / rejoin. Remember when taking exams its often the “Microsoft Way” that they look for!
